The Accounts Apprentice plays a crucial role in supporting the finance and accounting department by performing a variety of tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions and record keeping. This position contributes to the smooth operation of the financial processes within the organization.

Accuracy and timeliness of financial data entry and recordkeeping. Completion of assigned tasks within established deadlines. Compliance with accounting and financial regulations. Quality of financial reports and analyses produced. Ability to work effectively within the accounting team.

Month end close

Bank reconciliations, various accruals, follow up of review points, ad-hoc journal preparation and input, intercompany reconciliations, fixed asset accounting

Reconciliations

Balance sheet reconciliations including reconciliation of bank, prepayment and accrual accounts

Reporting

Monthly cash flow and quarterly reporting.

Audit & Compliance

Ensure that all documents are signed, dated and approved in accordance with the SOX policy; assisting in audit preparation.

Ad-hoc

Various ad-hoc tasks and projects including review of process documentation and archiving of documents

Industry Specific

Working towards A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.  Prior experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous but not always required.  Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.

Environment

Able to work effectively within a fast-paced, changing, revenue focused environment.

Product / Technical

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant office software.

Professional / Task

Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.

Personal

Enthusiastic about pursuing a career in accounting and finance.  Proactive and self-motivated, capable of taking initiative.  Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.  Ethical and trustworthy, maintaining confidentiality of financial information.  Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to pass a background check subject to local laws and legislation.

Specific Qualifications & Accreditations

Working towards A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
