Job Description

Site Maintenance Officer

Salary: £28,000

40 hours per week

Our client, a large Residential, Nursing, and Dementia Care Home, is excited to invite a new Site Maintenance Officer to their team. This nursing home is committed to providing exceptional care and a supportive environment for both residents and staff. As part of a passionate team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the home operates smoothly and safely, enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: A relevant training/qualifications in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a maintenance role, ideally within a care home or large facility, with a strong background in general repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in various maintenance skills, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs. Familiarity with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is a plus.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and risk assessment procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with residents, staff, and external contractors.
  • Personal Attributes: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and self-motivation. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage health and safety standards within the home.
  • Undertake general maintenance and remedial work to ensure the facility remains in optimal condition.
  • Liaise with external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and safety checks.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
