Job summary

We have an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist with an interest in Upper Limb Specialism to join theEast Kent team as a clinical lead.

The post is for 30 hours (4 days) a week and exact pattern of how these will be worked to be confirmed.

The Children's Therapies Team is an integrated therapies team providing Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speechand Language Therapy, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Care Co-ordinators to children 0 - 19 years within KCHFT.

Thisvacancy is within the East Kent Team based in Canterbury. The successful applicant will join our other OT Clinical Leads inEast Kent and will join the network of Clinical Leads working in the North West locality within the Trust.

We work closely with colleagues from other health, education and social care teams to provide an integrated team aroundthe child approach.

Main duties of the job

Co-ordinating and leading on Early Years across East Kent.

Leading on service policy and clinical care pathways across the trust in this specialist clinical area.

Ensuring team members are working to agreed Early Years care pathways.

Ensuring staff have regular access to effective supervision, training and support to enhance their CPD in this area.

Reporting to and advising on development requirements in this specialist area to Professional Leads, Team Leads, Locality Clinical Manager and/or Head of Service.

Participating in reflective practice and on going learning within the field of paediatric occupational Therapy and specifically Early Years .

Band 7 Clinicians are part of the Leadership Team and hold responsibility for delegated line management and supervision of staff within the team.

On a day to day basis you will manage a complex /specialist clinical caseload within the Early and School Years Occupational Therapy team in order to support children with a range of needs to participate in occupations of childhood.

Additional Working Pattern: 30hours mon-Fri (x4 hour)

Qualifications

Essential

Registered health care professional (HCPC registration) / minimum of 3 years of experience in paediatrics with Health related degree

Desirable

Evidence of Post Graduate Specialist qualifications relevant to specialist area of practice (early years/Upper limb)

Experience

Essential

Experience of leading and managing teams Experience of developing policy and service development plans with practical experience of change management. Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads

Desirable

Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor ) experience

Special Knowledge & expertise

Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance to relevant to care setting and its application across health care services
