Spire Hartswood Hospital have an exciting opportunity to bring in a Waste Lead to join their established team on a part time, permanent basis where you would be based at their site located in Warley in Brentwood. This is a role where you would be reporting into The Health and Safety Manager.
Your role will be to support line managers to ensure that the operational Management of Waste in use at the facility is managed with the aim of ensuring a safe workplace for all employees.
You must have a passion for waste and recycling. They will lead on initiatives to reduce waste, improve recycling, conducting audits and regular meetings
Duties & Responsibilities:
Support and advise staff in Waste Management processes against waste regulations, Legislation, HTM 07-01 and WM01 policy Ensuring that there are suitable and sufficient storage arrangements for different types of waste Ensure that there are suitable and sufficient and clinical, Dry Mixed and Recycling general waste bins in place around the hospital Ensure there are recycling processes in place. In line with all waste initiatives Attending training for conducting Waste audits and assessments as requested. Conducting regular waste meetings agreed with the Hospital Director and Health and Safety Participation in quarterly health and safety inspections, and spot inspections for compliance to safe storage and disposal of waste Completion of an annual internal waste compliance audit and submission of report to the Central Health and Safety team Attend training and conference calls as and when required Provide internal training and communication on different types of waste procedures to all departments within the facility.What we are looking for:
• Experience in a customer facing environment/role
• Excellent communication and social skills and an open, friendly nature.
• Able to lift heavy items and manoeuvre patient beds/trolleys.
• Good IT skills
