We are looking to recruit a full time EmploymentSolicitor to join our esteemed law firm at our Darlington office. As aClaimant Employment Solicitor, you will handle a wide range of employment lawcases, advocating for the rights of individuals facing workplace relatedissues.

Knowledge & Experience

  •  Responsibility formanagement of own caseload of both Respondent and Applicant work fromcommencement to conclusion
  • Representation atTribunal including advocacy services
  • Consideration ofsettlement options in the client’s best interests; taking into considerationthe client’s circumstances and assessments of quantum following review oflegislation and developing case law
  • To manage all clientwork expeditiously and in accordance with detailed procedures and qualitystandards contained in the practice’s office manual. This includes allocatingwork to yourself and others where necessary; complying with ACAS deadlines;Tribunal Limitations and any other relevant time limits for matters includingdiscrimination; Equality Act; Stress at work (personal injury).
  • To consider variousfunding options with clients, including (but not limited to) CFA;s DBA’s;Private retainers; insurance policies; trade union funding.
  • Ensure that paymentfor work on account is obtained before commencement of work (in appropriatecases) and bills for professional charges settled within a reasonable timeframe (usually 28 days).
  • To comply with theSolicitors’ Accounts Rules and the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct 2007.
  • To keep clients fullyup-to-date in both oral and written communications which are to becontemporaneously recorded on the electronic case management system. Toaccurately record attendances and preparation notes
  • To ensure good workingrelationships with external institutions and organisations and to develop newworking relationships to grow and expand the department to generate increasedrevenue.
  • To undertake anyspecific training when required to do so and take responsibility for ownself-development - this includes at least 16 hours of Continuing ProfessionalDevelopment to be recorded for annual review.
  • In conjunction withthe practice, to comply with the relevant training requirements of the SRA andto assist with in-house training as may be required.
  • In liaison with Headof Department and other directors, to be active in promoting the services ofthe practice and its image and ethos.
  • To carry out any otherduties and responsibilities that may be required by the Directors.

Requirements

  •  Qualified Solicitor with 2 years of experiencein this field would be desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law principles,procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Proven Track record of handling complexemployment law cases with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal andwritten.
  • Exceptional client management and negotiationabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of ateam, with strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining clientconfidentiality and ethical standards.
