Job summary

E1 is a 16 bedded regional cardiac unit with 4 High Dependancy Cardiac beds . The ward cares for children from birth to 18 as well as supporting their families/carers with a range of cardiac medical conditions and those requiring cardiac surgery.

E1 accepts tertiary referrals from across the Thames and Wessex network.

Job responsibilities

In this role you will:

Provide a high standard of specialist individualised care Communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team at UHS Maintain accurate records of observation, treatment and patient/family care

WHAT WERE LOOKING FORAlong with the relevant qualifications we are looking for you to demonstrate: Evidence of on-going professional development Good written and oral communication skills

The flexibility to work the full range of shifts within a 24-hour shift pattern is essential and previous experience in a paediatric environment is desired but not essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications / training required

Essential

NVQ 3 in Health or Childcare or equivalent Numeracy skills and Literacy skills at level 1 or 2 (or equivalent).

Desirable

Experienced and competent in additional clinical skills, as per job description.

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential

Proven experience in a caring role Understanding of acute hospital environment and the role of a Senior Healthcare Assistant

Desirable

Previous HCA experience. Previous experience of working with the general public. Experience of using a computer.

Aptitudes and skills required

Essential

Literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to communicate with wide range of people. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to work under own initiative and prioritise workload Ability to adjust to pressures of job. Good interpersonal skills. Willingness to undertake further training.
