Job summary

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting,ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporarypatients.

WorkingArrangements

You willhave a base at Henry Moore Clinic (which will also be used for the purposes ofclaiming mileage), but will be required to work flexibly across the PCN GPpractices and premises and potentially across the Wakefield District.

As the rolerequires you to commute across the Wakefield District, applicants should hold a full driving licence, which is validin the UK, and hold the relevant car insurance to cover travel for businesspurposes or have the ability to be mobile by using other modes of transport forwhich reasonable expenses will be payable.

Hours ofwork are 28 hours per week (part-time) to be worked flexibly between 8am and Monday toFriday. Where you may be required to support clinical services outside of thesehours, time off in lieu will be made available.

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the PCN/General Practice timetable, asagreed, the post-holder will make themself available to undertake a variety ofduties to include:

Surgery consultation Telephone consultations and queries Visiting patients at home Checking and signing repeat prescriptions; and Dealing with queries ( including tasks),paperwork ( including letters), reports and correspondence in a timely fashion

About us

Wakefield North PCN is made up of six practices acrossCastleford, Normanton and Featherstone, four of which are registered trainingpractices. We are also part of the West Yorkshire GP Educators Programme, andour experienced Clinical Directors include a GP Training Programme Director andthe Wakefield Mental Health Lead. You will be part of a fantastic primary careteam of enthusiastic GPs, nurses and advanced practitioners who can provide youwith the opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge of primary care whilstbeing part of an inclusive and supportive PCN.

All practices have PCN ARRS staff working alongside themwhich includes a Pharmacy Team, a Mental Health Practitioner, an OccupationalTherapist, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Care Co-ordinators, a SocialPrescriber, Paramedics and nurses providing an outreach service to ourhousebound patients and those requiring support in other settings.

Your week will include personal development time andtutorials, with monthly protected training sessions provided in a GP practice,across the PCN or all of Wakefield.

Qualifications

Essential

MBBS or equivalent medical degree Full registration with GMC Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB) Inclusion on Performers List MRCGP Evidence of a commitment to on-going personal & professional development

Knowledge and Understanding

Understanding the role of medical services in a wider public health agenda Knowledge of the demographic characteristics that affect health and health care in the area

Experience

Experience of working in primary care in an area with significant health problems Experience of providing primary care in and out of hours Must not have been substantively employed as a GP in general practice previously; or Is not employed in a temporary capacity as a locum; and/or Upon commencement of employment is less than 2 years beyond their certificate of completion of training being issued by the GMC.

Desirable

Development of areas of clinical expertise Experience of audit and improving care for patients
