Job summary

Following the successful launch of our Musculoskeletal (MSK) First Contact Practitioner (FCP) service in Bury, we are looking to recruit additional band 6 and band 7 Physiotherapists. As an FCP you will be expected to provide expert screening; assessment; and diagnosis for patients presenting with MSK conditions.

You will be part of a large integrated physiotherapy service, delivering FCP clinics within primary care locations. Our mixed model of band 6,7 and 8a staff is designed to support musculoskeletal clinicians in primary care as well as provide a resilient framework for the future of FCP delivery. This is a fantastic environment for the knowledge and skill development in the MSK field.

We are looking for confident, enthusiastic physiotherapists with experience of working within an NHS MSK setting. You will be working towards level 7 learning within MSK.

Due to the independent nature of FCP work, strong leadership skills and the ability to work within interdisciplinary teams is paramount. You will have a lead role in service development and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

Expertly assess, treat, and manage patients in FCP clinics Provide clinical expertise and make decisions about the best course of action for patient care (including in relation to undifferentiated conditions). Provide early self-care advice and support lifestyle changes Ensure appropriate onward referral or signposting Provide clinical supervision and teaching for both primary care and physiotherapy colleagues Form close working relationships with primary care colleagues through attending practice meetings, GP mentoring, delivering MDT training Provide cover across the primary care networks which will involve travel between the practices and other venues to help fulfil the role. Participate in pathway development, service improvement, audit and evaluation

Degree in physiotherapy (or equivalent) HCPC registration Evidence of relevant post graduate training in clinical skill/assessment relative to speciality. Willingness to undertake training in specialist area to Masters level
