Undertakea variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of thepractice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support toclinical staff and other members of the practice team where needed.
Facilitateeffective communication between patients, members of the primary health careteam, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
Duties andresponsibilities:
Theduties and responsibilities to be undertaken may include any or all of theitems in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under thedirection of the senior GP or your Supervisor dependent on current and evolvingpractice workload and staffing levels:
Knowledgeand use of EMIS web
Processingand issuing of prescriptions within standard timeframes as per practice policy
Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system
Processingpersonal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephoneconsultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcareprofessional
Processingand distributing income (and outgoing) mail using Workflow
Takingmessages and passing on information
Adminduties including scanning, read coding, completing tasks and summarisingpatient medical records
Computerdata entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording informationin accordance with practice procedures
Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members andassociated healthcare agencies and providers
Filingand retrieving of paperwork
Clearingand restocking consultation rooms as required
Monitoringof fridge temperatures
Providingclerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, includingword/data processing, filing, and photocopying
Keepingpatient areas tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Beingpolite and helpful to patients and colleagues at all times ensuring that youprovide good customer service and make a good impression

Qualifications
Essential
Good customer service, the ability to work as part of a team, ability to maintain confidentiality whilst handling sensitive information and basic IT skills.
Desirable
Experience of working in a GP practice, reception experience in an NHS setting and knowledge of EMIS Web.
