As amember of an 8 to10 person agile scrum team the Senior SystemsEngineer (SSE) Cloud Platform will drive the delivery ofvirtualization compute storage middleware database and toolinginfrastructure that drive client business applications. The SSEpartners with business technology leaders architects and otherengineers across department release trains and other disciplines toengineer modern solutions along with the automation that will beused to deliver those solutions (aka deliver infrastructure ascode) either in the data center or in the cloud. This roleengineers these systems to ensure that Marriotts services have thenecessary resiliency and uptime appropriate to user needs whilebeing able to deliver a fast rate of change functional andnonfunctional improvements.

RequiredExperience/Knowledge:

• 8years experience in information technology with technicalskills:
• 8 years of experience withinfrastructure application delivery (operations).
• 3 years of experience in Agile/DevOpsmethodologies
• 3 years with Kubernetes (EKS AKSACK or OpenShift)
• 3 years of experience withcloud technology and its concepts (AWS Azure and/or Alibaba)including networking security and IAM
• 3 yearsInfrastructure and Configuration ManagementasCodeServices
• Terraform Enterprise VaultEnterprise
• Ansible or Ansible Tower
• 3 years of experience with infrastructure automationthrough scripting with Python Ruby PowerShell and/or UNIX scriptinglanguages.

Networking fundamentals

• Ability to independently research andrecommend tools software applications and systems for attainingbest inclass IT technology across the enterprise.
• Ability to drive an idea or concept to an actual solutionwith significant autonomy.
• Ability to designhighly resilient systems that support 99.9% uptime.
• Ability to create constructive relationships influenceand communicate (to project team IT management and nontechnicalstaff).

• Serve as one of the departments cloud platformtechnology SMEs. Modernizing legacy IT systems
• Produce Infrastructure as Code
• Provide solutions to lift and shift legacy solutions intothe cloud
• Provide solutions to transformlegacy solutions into cloud native solutions.
• Provides technical expertise oversight standardizationand validation of the effectiveness of hardware and softwareinfrastructure
• Research design and engineerhighperforming Infrastructure (as code) components that arestandards based highly available and secured delivering therequired business functionality.
• Educatesinternal and external users of the technologies to continuallyimprove the knowledge and skillbase of the organization on how bestto operate and support the infrastructure services.
• Provides documents with a focus on how services will beleveraged in the solution architecture.
• Participates in the evaluation and selection oftechnology products.
• Institutes best practicesand ensures proper alignment to projects and majorinitiatives.
• Leads analysis of the currentenvironment to detect critical deficiencies and recommendssolutions for improvement.
• Leads analysis oftechnology industry and market trends to determine the potentialimpact on existing and planned architectures.
