Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) 

Location: Primary School, PR4, Preston 

Working Hours: Full-time, 8:45 AM - 3:15 PM (Monday to Friday) with a 0.5 hour unpaid break 

Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour

About Us:

We are a friendly and inclusive primary school located in the PR4 area of Preston. Our school community is dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment for all our pupils, ensuring they thrive both academically and personally. We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional 1:1 support to a child in Year 2 with Down syndrome.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 2 pupil who has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) in place. Your role will involve supporting the child on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access the curriculum, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 child with Down syndrome in accordance with their EHCP.

-          Assist in implementing personalized learning plans and adapting classroom activities to meet the child’s needs.

-          Support the child in developing social and communication skills.

-          Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor and record the child’s progress.

-          Ensure the child’s safety and well-being at all times.

-          Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

-          Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), preferably Down syndrome.

-          Understanding of EHCPs and experience in implementing tailored support plans.

-          Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.

-          Strong communication and teamwork skills.

-          Ability to work full-time during school hours (8:45 AM - 3:15 PM) with a 0.5 hour unpaid break.

-          A relevant qualification in education or child care is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
