Edinburgh, United Kingdom AECOM Full time
Job Description

Start here. Grow here.

Are you ready to help lead a team of talented engineers and shape the future of water infrastructure?

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Engineering team as a Senior Civil Engineer in our rapidly growing Edinburgh office, as well as taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients.

In recent times we have supported the wider UK business by delivering projects for Wessex Water, NI Water, Welsh Water (DCWW), Scottish Water, Network Rail and local authorities. These projects have ranged from small scale surface water drainage and general civils to large scale Water Treatment works and everything in between. These have also been delivered across the project life cycle, again giving you the variety to keep things interesting. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to be a part of a talented, diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Oversee: Lead the civil design of projects and mentor junior staff members, reviewing and feeding back on their work.
  • Provide Expertise: Produce technical specifications and calculations by hand or using current computer software. Help determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for projects and then manage and monitor this throughout the project.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with clients and other multidisciplinary teams at AECOM to ensure clear understanding of deliverables and responsibilities.
  • Safety: Take ownership of aspects of project safety that are within your control, such as carrying out Safety in Design practices and ensuring any out of office work has been appropriately planned and risk assessed.

If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives. Why not give our AECOM Water page on LinkedIn a follow to stay updated on the impactful projects we're working on and see firsthand the difference we're making in the industry

Come grow with us.

Become part of our dynamic Water business, which boasts around 670 experts across the UK & Ireland. Collaborate with top-tier civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to deliver a variety of captivating projects, from small initiatives to large-scale ventures, all the way from concept to completion.  At AECOM, you’ll thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment where your contributions are valued.

And let's not forget about the perks at AECOM. You'll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customised to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Civil Engineering degree qualified
  • Experience delivering detailed outlines and designs of potable water/wastewater infrastructure
  • Experience of leading project teams in line with agreed scope, fee and programme
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff
  • Flexible to travel to other AECOM and client offices.

We celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities. If you are an applicant with a disability that requires reasonable accommodation to complete the application process, please contact us at ReasonableAdjustments@aecom.com.

At AECOM, we value everyone's unique contributions and perspectives. If you meet some of the requirements above or have transferable skills you believe would benefit us, we would be delighted to hear from you
