The (CSEP) has been established to build a national resource to help ensure that the UK’s high-value science and technology-based industries are globally competitive in the 21st century.
The new Centre, which is a collaboration between Imperial College’s Business School and the Faculty of Engineering, has been made possible by generous support from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. CSEP will bring together experts in engineering, economics, and management to work with other groups in Imperial College London and externally when appropriate. It will translate rigorous research into strategies and policies that address both firm-level and national competitiveness.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to benchmark the UK Automotive Research against industry roadmaps and to develop recommendations for follow-on large-scale study.
To lead and undertake research of the highest quality in the broad area of UK Automotive:
Publish research and policy recommendationsTo help scope large-scale multi-university research projectAttend and present work at the CSEP annual conferenceSupervise postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate students and undergraduate research projectsResearch Duties:
To continue to develop a personal programme of researchTo take initiatives in the planning and leading of researchTo manage research projectsTo direct the work of small research teams, supervising and taking responsibility for the research teamTo write reports for submission to research sponsorsTo provide guidance to staff and studentsTo attend relevant workshops and conferences as necessaryTo develop contacts and research collaborations within the College and the wider communityTo promote the reputation of the Group, the Department and the CollegeOther Duties:
To undertake appropriate administration tasksContribute to departmental management as requiredTo attend relevant meetingsPhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experienceExtensive knowledge of Automotive IndustryPractical experience within a research environment and/or publications in relevant and refereed journalsA record of high-quality publications in international peer-reviewed journalsDemonstrated ability to interact with other academicsExperience of the supervision of research of undergraduate/postgraduate students or postdoctoral staffExperience of presenting results and findings to specialist and non-specialist audiences . at significant conferences or engaging with the public on scienceDemonstrated success in delivering research results with evidence of national recognition and a growing reputation
