Job summary
To act as a visible and dynamic role model with the ability to support teams of Community Midwives to deliver a high quality service, whilst ensuring the timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Responsible for day to day operational management of the community team, providing professional and managerial leadership. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating care to ensure positive patient experience. The Team leader will also organise staff rotas, manage attendance in work policy, undertake appraisals and support staff in adhering to Trust training targets. They will be responsible for recruitment, selection and the induction of new starters. Team leaders will undertake Datix investigations and deal with, and input into both informal and formal complaints.
A key component of the role is to lead on quality initiatives, embracing opportunities for service improvement and promoting normality in pregnancy and childbirth, and recognising the childbirth continuum as a family event.
Main duties of the job
To have responsibility for leading and coordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements for the community midwifery team. To ensure the delivery of high quality evidence-based midwifery care, To be competent and confident in all areas of midwifery practice and act as an expert resource in low-risk antenatal care, normal birth and postnatal care, able to advise other midwives and medical staff on clinical matters. Ensure an effective 24 hour on-call cover and low-risk birth service. To work in cooperation with other Team leaders and the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate resources across the service. To deputise for Community Matron and BC manager. To effectively support and manage community midwifery teams. To be instrumental in the development of team changes that promote improved Continuity of carer for women and families in line with national drivers Be responsible for development and maintaining high standards of care to women and their families in accordance with unit and national guidelines and policies, and supporting midwives to do so. To offer clinical supervision and oversight of caseloads. To support care plans where women are birthing outside of guidance, ensuring that families are involved in the care planning process. To support and promote 'joined-up' working with Stockport family colleagues and, adherence to SG policy.

Represent midwifery and actively participate in Trust and external Forums.The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £ This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
