A highly reputable SEN school group is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Food Technology to join the permanent staff team at their Darwen site. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for food education and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive Food Technology lessons, designed to inspire and support students with a range of learning needs. Working closely with the SEN team, the teacher will create a supportive and nurturing environment, ensuring all students can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative and differentiated Food Technology lessons tailored to individual student needs
  • Encourage the development of practical skills, healthy eating habits, and independent living skills through food education
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, adapting teaching methods to meet their needs
  • Collaborate with the SEN team and other staff members to support individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment in the food technology classroom
  • Participate in wider school activities, contributing to the school community

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology, ideally within an SEN or inclusive educational setting
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
  • Excellent classroom management skills with a compassionate and patient approach
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A passion for working with young people and helping them develop practical life skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

Desirable:

  • Experience working in an SEN school or with students who have additional learning needs
  • A background in food science, nutrition, or culinary arts

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
