Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the musculoskeletal therapy team for a permanent full time Specialist band 6 Physiotherapist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust working in the Orthopaedic and plastic hand therapy team including burns in and out patient services.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work in one of the largest orthopaedic, burns, and hand units in the country which also holds major trauma status. They will work within a dynamic therapy team under the direction of the Clinical Specialists and Lead Therapists.

The team provides a service to the in and out patients burns services as well as the plastic surgery ward and the Sheffield hand unit out patient service which incorporates both orthopaedic and plastic surgery patients.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with experience in this field, the post holder will receive training and supervision to ensure their competence and skills in all aspects of the service.

As an MSK service we provided a 7 days service to the orthopaedic wards and the successful application would be working on a rota to help support this service with weekend working.

Main duties of the job

You will need:-

A BSc/Diploma in Physiotherapy (or equivalent).

Hand therapy and/or Burns experience desirable.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills.

Evidence of continuous personal & professional development.

Able to maintain confidentiality.

Able to act on own initiative, organise and prioritise work and manage multiple tasks.

Able to maintain accurate written and electronic records & statistics.

Calm and flexible approach to changing work situations.

Able to teach and motivate others including students and the wider MDT.

Motivated to learn and self develop.

Flexible and reliable approach to working practices.

Positive attitude to patient care and teamwork.

Ability to display the Trust PROUD values throughout working day.

Providing senior physiotherapy skills and knowledge in supporting the clinical specialist in the progression and development of the hand and burns service.

Providing a range of therapy skills which includes Splinting, exercises, functional rehab, scar and oedema management to patients with traumatic and acquired conditions treated both conservatively and operatively.
