Breast Receptionist

London, United Kingdom Barts Health NHS Trust Full time

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Receptionist to join Women's and Children's Division at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Bart's Health NHS Trust.

This is an opportunity to work as part of the Breast department at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day reception duties of the busy clinic, and compliance within the cancer treatment targets.

The post holder will be expected to build strong working relationships with the Clinic Manager, Breast surgeons, Nursing staff and imaging team.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have experience of managing reception in an outpatient environment.

You will respond to enquiries over email and on the telephone using our WeCare values to deliver a high standard of customer service.

You will also establish and oversee efficient administration and business systems to support the directorate so that we can deliver an efficient and professional communications service to the Trust.

In return, we will develop your skills, knowledge and experience with formal and on-the-job training.

Your primary base will be Whipps Cross Hospital. However, there may also be a requirement for you to attend other hospitals within the Trust where appropriate for work or training.

This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

The Breast Clinic at Whipps Cross Hospital is the first point of contact for the majority of patients. Many of these patients will be extremely nervous about their visit and therefore it is important that a friendly, efficient, and effective service is offered by our reception staff.

Patients and their carers expect and have the right to receive first class service, and this often starts by the way they are received by reception staff, prior to their meeting with the clinical staff. It is the duty of the receptionist to welcome all patients and offer them an efficient service through the system.

With the Government initiative around the 18 Weeks pathway, it is important that receptionists realise the essential role they have to play. It is the duty of the receptionists to record all activity on CRS, thus ensuring not only the pathway for the patient is recorded but also that the Trust is able to achieve the income from the relevant PCT for patients care.

Working for our organisation

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
