Robert Half is recruiting an experienced Second Line Support Engineer for a London-based not-for-profit organisation. This is an initial 3 month contract.

Role:

The Second Line Support Engineer is tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support test and production servers, including after-hours maintenance when needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment and software procurement, ensuring compliance with audit and budget requirements.
  • Provide guidance on network server implementation and collaborate with internal users, developers, and technical staff.
  • Perform daily system maintenance, monitoring, reporting, and managing corporate backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Work with operations, vendors, and service providers to maintain WAN, server, hardware, and software systems.
  • Ensure timely delivery of hardware and network upgrades and configurations.
  • Document technical needs, oversee project plans, implement change control, and participate in design and architectural reviews.
  • Assess system faults and implement long-term solutions, avoiding temporary fixes.

Profile:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify technical terms for non-technical users
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments and function as part of a team
  • Experience administering Office 365 environment, including Exchange
  • Experience administering Windows server services and features like DHCP, Printers, DNS, and Microsoft Active Directory
  • Proven experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician, or similar role
  • Experience deploying Windows 10 and 11, including autopilot and modern desktop tools like Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Knowledge of the Meraki cloud-based dashboard, including Meraki Access Points, CCTV, and Teleworker 4G Gateway
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams products, including telephone systems, Teams sites, and meeting rooms
