Trust Grade Doctor - Emergency and Urgent Care

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Doctor who enjoys working as part of a wide multidisciplinary team to deliver care in our Urgent Treatment Centre which serves a diverse population within Newham. Our UTC operates in an innovative and exciting way, working alongside experienced Nurse Practitioners and GP's to rapidly assess, treat and discharge patients which includes managing cases at the first point of contact where possible. The staff can refer to all relevant specialties and enjoy a close working relationship with the Emergency Department.

We have the vision to deliver services that improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. This is an exciting post, with the opportunity to help develop the service further, make a real difference to patients, support community teams and a chance to develop both leadership and strategic skills. The model allows for the rapid and flexible management of workload and uses the expertise and skills of SpR's to enhance the operational capacity of the unit. The centre is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will assist in the provision of a high-quality urgent care service as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The Urgent Treatment Centre is funded to provide a Nurse led service made up of a multi-disciplinary workforce such as UTC Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners and GP's.

Our Urgent Treatment Centres are co-located with the Emergency Department and have access to diagnostics, internal speciality streaming pathways and an increasing external re-direction directory of service pathways to direct patients back into community-based services.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis working across a 4 weekly rota to include days, evenings and night shifts. Start date will be by mutual agreement with the successful applicants. The role will be covered by trust indemnity, and candidates will be eligible to enlist on the NHS pension scheme. The role will naturally provide evidence and work streams for personal development and future appraisals.
