Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our dedicated Critical Care workforce at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, as a Band 3 Health Care support Worker.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for experienced, proactive, enthusiastic and caring individuals, who will enjoy working in these demanding and rapidly changing environments, supporting all levels of nursing, medical and allied health staff. We provide care for both elective surgical patients and emergencies admissions from all specialities.

In return for your dedication and hard work, we offer well-established, structured teaching and development programmes for all staff. If you have a caring and compassionate approach to your work and patients, and want to join a motivated, friendly and supportive team, we are keen to hear from you.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or knowledge

Essential

NVQ level 3 in Health & Social care related subjects or equivalent qualifications/experience QCF Level 3 or equivalent qualifications/experience Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology

Desirable

All wales Hcsw induction framework

Experience

Essential

Experience of working as a HCSW without direct supervision in a clinical setting and being managed by a qualified practitioner Basic understanding of risk assessment and management

Skills

Essential

Evidence of basic observation skills Ability to work alone ,under supervision and understanding when to seek clinical advice and support from qualified nurses The ability to communicate clearly and accurately. The ability to be adaptable to new and changing circumstances Evidence of being able to provide wound care using aseptic technique ANNT, Phlebotomy

Desirable

Competent in vital signs, venepuncture, ECG recording, Urine testing, BP pulse, temp, respirations, blood sugar

Personal Qualities

Essential

Excellent communication skils Ability to work independently within professional boundaries Standard keyboard skills Good decision making skills
