An opportunity has arisen for a newly created Clinical Lead - Band 7 post to join our friendly community team within Black Country Mental Health Healthcare Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join us as we progress and develop our mental health services. Therefore, this is an exciting time to join us.

We are looking for someone who has an interest in working holistically with people who have complex and diverse health needs, working in a community setting. Someone who has a vision for OT to shape our services as we move through community transformation, making sure that co production, recovery and person centred approaches are at the heart of what we do.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide clinical leadership and developing the OT team within the Dudley locality within the Black Country. These teams are based within Brierley Hill and Halesowen. There has been a substantial investment AHP services as the wider trust is committed to providing a high-quality therapeutic service, Furthermore, there is continuing investment in multidisciplinary service provision, as part of community transformation

Successful applicants will have excellent communication and team working skills; have a good awareness of risk and managing risk; have excellent time management and professional conduct. This role will facilitate your professional development and equip you with range of leadership skills. You will be supported by regular clinical and management supervision, ongoing CPD opportunities and encouraged to contribute to the development of the wider adult mental health allied health professional services.

This is a newly merged organisation covering the four locality areas across the Black Country footprint. This post will primarily cover Dudley, but you may be required to support other areas as needed. This is a new vision for a substantive post and part of this role will be to shape the Occupational Therapy delivery within the community transformation processes in Black Country Mental Health services . Job responsibilities

You will be joining the Trust at an exciting time as we embark on our Adult community journey to deliver on community transformation, to ensure our service users are at the centre of this process, in truly co-produced services. This post offers you an opportunity to extend your knowledge, skills and development within this rewarding leadership role at a time of transformation of community mental health services. As an Occupational Therapy Team Lead - Band 7 you will contribute to the operational and professional leadership of OT colleagues, including, support workers, across the Dudley location

The post holder will be a key member of the Mental Health Services Clinical and Management Team and will contribute to the overall management of those services. As an Occupational Therapy Team lead you will be responsible to the Service Manager and AHP Lead for Adult Mental Health, having designated responsibility for professional leadership and co-ordination of the AHP team as well as delivering complex occupational therapy assessments and interventions to Adults within community services.

Education / Qualifications

Essential

Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy oMasters level qualification relevant to post or relevant masters level clinical experience

Desirable

oRelevant management course.

Experience

Essential

oDocumented evidence of continuing practice development. oEvidence of self-directed learning. oSignificant experience as a band 6/7 occupational therapist in a relevant clinical field or fields, including extensive mental health experience. oExtensive experience of supervision, appraisal and development of occupational therapy staff and students. oSignificant experience of multi-disciplinary working including development of effective networks/partnerships. oActive participation in audit, service evaluation and research in relevant clinical field. oExperience of involvement in quality improvement or service developments.

Knowledge

Essential

oExcellent working knowledge of occupational therapy practice in adult/ older adult mental health settings. oThorough knowledge of statutory and legal frameworks within which mental health services operate. oEffective working knowledge of health and social care policy, including the social care context of mental health services.

Desirable

oThorough knowledge of the current management of mental health services.
