Job summary
We are delighted to be in a position to advertise a new leadership role in adult health psychology at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The role sits within the Clinical Psychology team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, which is a small team working within several areas of adult and paediatric health psychology. The role is a combination of leadership across adult Clinical Psychology services, and a direct clinical role incorporating palliative care and cystic fibrosis.
We are looking for a candidate who can ensure a high quality specialist psychological service in their clinical role, together with professional and strategic leadership across the Clinical Psychology team. We are a small team, aiming to raise our profile within the organization, and to secure a professional environment which promotes good staff retention.
Main duties of the job
The clinical aspect of the role includes cystic fibrosis work based at the Respiratory Medicine department at NNUH, working with a small team of Consultants, highly experienced nurses, a physiotherapist and a dietician. There will be both inpatient and outpatient work and some consideration will need to be given to ensure that the limited hours are used for best outcome for the clinical population.
The palliative care role involves working with the team of Consultants, Nurses and community palliative care staff. The clinical work will include a mixture of outpatient and inpatient work, supporting patients and facilitating a psychologically-informed approach for the rest of the team. There is some capacity to shape this mix of outpatient and inpatient work, dependent on the clinical interests of the successful is some dedicated admin space for these roles, however flexibility about availability of clinical space would be useful.
The leadership role will sit alongside existing Consultant Clinical Psychologist roles in adult and paediatric services, under the leadership of the Head of Psychology. There will be a focus on supporting the development of an emerging oncology service at NNUH.

To provide professional leadership to clinical psychology services within the specialities ensuring systematic governance of psychological practice within the specialities and that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of all other psychologists across all services within the specialities including ensuring systems for effective recruitment, professional appraisal, and the identification of CPD needs across the specialities.
To contribute to the operational and strategic management of Clinical Psychology services for the Trust.
As a major requirement of the job to be responsible for performance management of all psychological research and development activity within the speciality including audit, policy and service development and research programmes.
To propose and implement policy and service development changes within the speciality.

Qualifications
Essential
Good Honours Degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996). Currently eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychology status and membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology.
