Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with an interest in Neurology care, to join our friendly Outpatient Therapy Team at York Hospital. 

The successful, appointed candidate will be required to act as an autonomous practitioner to manage a caseload of patients with a variety of neurological conditions, providing specialist assessment and treatment to patients in a variety of service settings.

Alongside this there would be a requirement for the candidate to contribute to service and professional development, support student practice placements and supervise colleagues within the services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in developing their skills in this diverse and challenging specialty. You should have post graduate experience in Neurology, and an awareness of complex assessment and patient-centered rehabilitation.

You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge, operational awareness, service improvement and leadership skills. We have an established program of clinical and managerial supervision, and we will expect the successful candidate to be proactive in their approach to development of themselves, and supportive in the development of others. Training and advice is available from Advanced Clinical Specialists who work across all sites. 

The role will require you to contribute to an ever-evolving service and support changes that will facilitate excellent care in line with national guidelines. There will also be a need to support service audit and provide data for national review.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

HCPC Registered Physiotherapist Evidence of relevant post graduate CPD activities

Desirable criteria

Evidence of recognised post graduate training within Neurology care and rehabilitation Practice placement supervisor qualification

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential criteria

Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal training and supervision Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations Experience in assessment and provision of specialist equipment Experience in delivering clinical treatment within Neurology Awareness of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice

Desirable criteria

Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment Developed / Specialist clinical skills within relevant area Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area Delivery of relevant audit/research projects
