Location: Wickes, Rhosili Road Northampton PM shift (14:00 - 22:00)

The Role:

To manage, direct, control and monitor the work and performance of all warehouse operatives on shift, to ensure completion of daily functions, fully, safely and accurately. At all times the First Line Manager must be aware of and comply with company values, policies and procedures

Duties and responsibilities

● You will strive to ensure a best-in-class HSE performance is achieved and that the site operates in line with all company and customer procedures and requirements relating to Health and Safety.

● On a daily shift basis direct, monitor and communicate with your team on their performance of their allocated duties to achieve productivity, accuracy and customer SLA adherence.

● Demonstrate the company values and lead by example.

● Monitor and interrogate shift and team performance through tools provided (WMS, Tableau, Globe,

● Adherence to operational process (SOP) and identify training requirements for your teams. 

● You will drive a continuous improvement programme, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and process improvement.

● Liaise with other departments to ensure that aims and objective are met (Warehouse, Stock & Admin, Customer Service,

● Adhere to all emergency procedures (disaster recovery, fire and evacuations

● Identify training needs and take appropriate action address these in line with individual and operational requirements.

● Conduct Probation, Inductions, 1-1’s and appraisals.

● Conduct return to work interviews and absence management procedure meetings.

● Conduct disciplinary investigations and disciplinary interviews.

● Maintain confidentiality and remain in line with GDPR (Data Protection), make notes of all performance related conversations and provide written reports within critical time scales.

● Embrace the introduction of new procedures and on new equipment technology.

● Report potential risks and aid loss prevention (theft or damage).

● Any other duties necessary in line with the department.

Performance Measures:

● Performance Management including Personal Development Plans and probation reviews for 100% of team 

● Absence Management – Return to Work meetings & forms, holiday authorisation and planning

● Effective planning of daily manpower and control of overtime

● KPI’s and revenue managed in line with targets

● Stock Performance – (Gross, net, damages, cross picks, put away errors, return to bulk errors, picker spot checks, Audit check follow-ups)

● Delivery Schedules

● Accident, Incident and Near Miss Prevention – (Workplace inspection, in-depth investigation, behavioural audits, Risk assessments, Defects)

● Control pre op checks on all MHE

Skills and Experience

● Excellent communication skills

● A clear leader, who leads by example and takes ownership of their performance and accountabilities ● Confident in the use of Google/Microsoft applications

● Experience in all aspects of health and safety within a warehouse environment
