Main duties of the job

The Second Chef role at Barchester Healthcare involves assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen, developing menus, and preparing fresh, seasonal dishes to a high standard. The successful candidate will need to have experience in leading and inspiring a team, a good understanding of nutrition, and the ability to work within budget constraints. They will be responsible for various tasks, including stock control, regular audits, and helping to create a warm and efficient kitchen environment.

Working as a bank Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. As this is a Bank position to provide cover as and when we need it, such as for annual leave or sick leave, the hours and days you work will vary.

NEED TO HAVE

Essential

The successful candidate will need to hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, along with a good understanding of HACCP and experience in working with fresh, seasonal food.
