Queensferry Medical Practice is looking for an experienced receptionist and administrator to join our friendly, dedicated team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and team working skills, be hardworking, reliable and be able to work under pressure, as well as having an aptitude to learn. They will be patient-centred and have outstanding customer service skills.

Ideally the successful candidate will have worked in a GP surgery and have a thorough knowledge of our clinical system EMIS web.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to provide a first class patient experience and to deliver excellent levels of administration and customer service. Responding to requests from patients, clinicians, external services and other team members, you will complete a wide variety of tasks.

We are a suburban practice with mixed socio-economic population. A modern skill mixed progressive team serving a population of around 8000 patients - with 2 GP Partners, 2 long term Locum GP's , 3 ANP's, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 HCA & an excellent administration support team. We use Emis web and have access to Lexacom digital dictation. We have easy and fast access to the M56, M53 and A55 so are easily accessible from Cheshire, Merseyside, Manchester and North Wales. We are uniquely localised between two nearest hospitals providing secondary care services - Wrexham (under NHS Wales) and Chester (under NHS England)

Job description

Job responsibilities

A list of duties includes but is not limited to:

Patient-specific duties

Workflow administration for clinical correspondence.

Patient registrations and deductions.

Effective reception triage and signposting.

Processing requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations.

Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system.

Processing repeat prescription and acute prescription requests.

Admin duties

Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail.

Filing and retrieving paperwork.

Placing orders as required for supplies.

Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.

General duties

Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required.

Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.

Opening-up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security.

Abide by all Practice policies, procedures and protocols.

Monday to Friday & will include some starts and some finishes
