Our Modern SlaveryResponse Team works with potential survivors of Modern Slaveryidentified via the National Referral Mechanism. We supportthousands of survivors to access services to support their recoveryand reintegration. This includes high quality emotional andpractical support. We work in close partnership with keystakeholders and local partners to optimize outcomes for ourservice users. The Service Manager will be responsible for managingand coaching high performing teams to ensure excellent qualityservices and strong contractual and organizationalcompliance. 

The purpose of the role is toprovide excellent quality specialist support and guidance toadvocates who are working with service users who are homeless or atrisk of homelessness. The post holder will provide  extensiveknowledge around housing legislation and have a proven backgroundin working with those impacted by housing related issues. You will offer tailored support toadvocates working with service users who are homeless or at risk ofhomelessness by liaising with local authorities, and other homelessstakeholders. You will act as a key point of contact  toadvocates and hold housing advice clinics and drop ins to supportthem to manage  complex housing cases and provide strategicoversight.

Asa Homelessness Prevention Specialist atHestia, you will play a crucial role in our Modern Slavery ResponseService.Your contributions will directly influence the livesof our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowermentand independence.

A day will never look the sameand some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible forare:

  • Adopt a specialist lead role inworking with Service Users experiencing homelessness anddestitution to offer specialist support to advocates working withservice users who are at risk of homelessness or who are homelessto access emergency housing support and interventions.
  • Creatively and decisively highlight areas of bestpractice across the service where there are solutions to preventand solve homelessness for service users.
  • Provide support to advocates when dealing with complexhousing cases.
  • Review housing relatedapplications and referrals and offer tailored support and advice ona case-by-case basis.
  • Hold clinics duringoffice hours to advise around housing issues and homelessnessprevention.
  • Share your knowledge andunderstanding of housing and homelessness legislation, in relationto private rented housing, local authority housing andhomelessness.
  • Keep updated on any changes tothe Homelessness code of guidance.
  • Keep up todate with contractual safehouse guidelines andregulations.
  • Oversee service users inalternative accommodation due to homelessness.
  • Provide support to advocates on difficult housing casesand sharing best practice.
  • Attend teammeetings and take part in Service policy and strategicplanning.
  • Create resources and update themregularly.
  • Deliver housing related workshopsaround housing legislation to advocates.
  • Be anactive part of the housing champions group.
  • Lead discussions at team meetings/away days around themesand trends with SU's that are impacting homelessnessincidents.
