Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Homelessness Prevention Specialist to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and high-quality homeless prevention, support, and advice service to all households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessments to customers presenting to the Council to determine their eligibility for homelessness support and identify alternative housing options.
  • Develop and implement effective homeless prevention strategies to prevent homelessness within the borough.
  • Provide advice and information to customers on their housing rights and obligations under legislation and Council policy.
  • Investigate landlord and tenant disputes, including allegations of harassment and illegal eviction, and intervene to prevent homelessness.
  • Provide information and referrals to customers on debt counselling and money advice services, including welfare benefits and prioritizing debts.
Requirements
  • Three years' experience in statutory homelessness.
  • Thorough knowledge of homelessness legislation and duties owed to homeless persons by the Council.
  • Knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation, including the Housing Act 1985 and Protection from Eviction Act 1977.
  • Detailed working knowledge of homeless prevention initiatives and their application.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the welfare benefit system and its application.
