Families First - Domestic Violence Perpetrator Specialist Worker (Casual)

We are seeking a dedicated professional to work with perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse. The role involves assessing risk and engaging with individuals to address and change their behavior using a strength-based approach and trauma-informed practice.

We seek candidates with a minimum of 5 years' experience in behavior change programs, co-facilitating structured group work, and working with perpetrators, along with knowledge of evidence-based practices and risk/needs assessment tools. Experience in delivering training is advantageous. This is a zero hour casual position and will be paid at an hourly rate upto £21.24 plus holiday pay. 

About the role

Joining us as a Domestic Violence Perpetrator Specialist Worker means taking on the responsibility of preparing and delivering individual and group interventions, including completing associated pre and post-group assessments and reports. You'll utilise service procedures and practice directions to inform your professional judgment.

Applicants should be willing to work up to two evenings per week and demonstrate flexibility in working across AfC sites, providing cover within your team and to other teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

Collaborate on cases independently from the allocated Social Worker or lead professional Provide high-quality expertise and specialist case consultancy to staff and professionals working with affected families Conduct effective risk and needs assessments and deliver appropriate interventions Engage with individuals and groups to motivate behavior change Assist individuals in understanding their relationship difficulties, underlying beliefs, and intentions, as well as the impact of their behaviors on victims and children, facilitating positive changes

About you

Educated to a degree level with a relevant professional qualification or significant relevant experience of working with parents / families impacted by domestic violence. Significant experience working with hard to reach and challenging perpetrators with complex needs, including mental health and substance use issues, delivering one to one tailored support and a structured group programme. Theoretical understanding of coercive control and power dynamics within intimate relationships, types of abuse, patterns of behaviours and the impact on the non-abusing parent and children. Good communication and interpersonal skills that are open, honest, persuasive and pragmatic, including excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Strong organisational abilities including: time management, creative-thinking, problem-solving and multitasking.
