London, United Kingdom Cygnet Full time

We are looking for a Clinical Service Manager to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Bury.

Cygnet Hospital Bury offers CAMHS Tier 4 PICU, general acute and low secure services across four wards, which provide a defined treatment pathway from admission through to intervention and discharge, including rapid assessment and treatment.

Primrose Ward is our CAMHS PICU ward for young people aged between 12 and 18. The service provides for young people primarily referred from CAMHS acute services who, in the context of a severe mental illness, exhibit a high level of risk that cannot be safely managed in a CAMHS general adolescent unit, and where the level of risk is not of a persistent nature that would require longer term care in a secure environment.

The Clinical Service Manager has overall responsibility for the clinical standards delivered and the professionalism of the staff reporting to him/her. To ensure that all clinical departments operate within budget and also in accordance with CQC standards and individual profession’s registrations

Main duties include:

Ensure that a safe environment is maintained at all times in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Quality Network for inpatient CAMHS and Care Quality Commission. Responsible for clinical risk assessment in all areas and implementing risk management. Responsible for the maintenance of an acceptable standard of nursing care in all wards/units. Responsible for the professional standards of the Occupational Therapists, the Psychologists, Social Workers and Registered Nurses. Ensure that clinical staff maintain their professional registration standards. Ensure compliance with internal clinical standards within each department including CPA attendance and documentation, clinical updates, MHRT Manager’s Hearings as well as clinical tools such as HoNOSca, GAP and STAR. Ensure departments under their control are compliant with NHS contractual requirements for reporting and CQUIN. Promote good communication within the clinical teams, across wards and with outside agencies including regular communication to patients’ carers, relatives and local commissioning teams. Work with the Quality Assurance Manager and the Registered Manager to ensure all aspects of relational, procedural and physical security are maintained within clinical departments. Ensure that all commissioner and CQC notifications are completed in a timely manner to a high standard. Attend ward rounds as necessary to offer support and guidance to the clinical teams. Coordinate all referrals to the service, monitoring appropriate acceptance, timely report writing and appropriate risk assessment and planning for admission within the Hospital time scales. Attendance at service user involvement groups; ensuring that any feedback from the service user group is implemented as appropriate. Support nursing staff in engaging service users in decision making around their care, specifically around care plans, behavioral plans and advance directives for planning care. Ensure that clinical standards and policies are adhered to by all staff and ensure they are constantly monitored and updated. In accordance with procedures, deal with all incidents or untoward occurrences keeping accurate records, auditing responses and effecting changes where necessary. Monitor pharmacy and pathology services to ensure adequate standards are met. Liaise with external suppliers of these services. Monitor patients’ notes and ensure that multi disciplinary records are maintained according to policy and procedure. Collate and monitor accident and incident forms in line with corporate standards. To manage the nursing and other non-medical clinical audit program through the audit group. Participate in the Hospital on-call rota.

Essential expeirence:
