Job summary

To provide high quality care and participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs of the patient group.

The post holder will be expected to carry out relevant forms of care without direct supervision and take a role in teaching others.

To play an active part in the continuing development of the theatre department and become involved in initiatives and changes as they occur.

The post holder will be expected to work in 2 disciplines of theatre practice, including Anaesthetics and be willing to take on further training.

Main duties of the job

P ROFESSIONAL

To practice at all times within the appropriate code of professional conduct To ensure at all times that the care provided to patients is delivered in a professional, courteous and empathetic manner and respecting different cultural backgrounds of colleagues, clients, visitors and To ensure that good communication skills and cooperation exists between staff in theatres and other health professionals, disciplines and department To maintain and improve knowledge and expertise in current development and future trends in relation to peri-operative p To help to maintain a positive learning environment for all grades of staff and to participate in the mentoring of student

C LINICAL

To be proficient in specialist care in the theatre environment To be able to provide accurate and legible records and all other relevant documentation in line with the NMC and HCPC standards for record keeping. To adhere to trust policy for information governance To be responsible where necessary for the custody and management of controlled drugs and knowledge of how to escalate any discrepancies. To take an active role in the teaching and mentoring of students and junior staff To undertake any tasks that falls within the remit of your scope of practice and your codes of conduct To assist the anaesthetists with regional anaesthetic procedures on delivery suite
