Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an English Graduate to join one of our client schools in Tameside as a Teaching Assistant. This position will be full-time, starting in September at the beginning of the new academic year.

The salary for this position will be between £420 and £450 per week dependent on experience and requirements from the school.

The school is located near to Ashton-Under-Lyne and is easy to commute to from the surrounding areas of Oldham, Hyde, and Gorton by public transport or by driving. It is a large, mixed secondary school, providing an education to pupils between the ages of 11 and 16.

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Working with smaller groups of children or on a 1:1 basis to target the learning needs of those pupils who are struggling academically more than their peers.
  • Assisting the teacher in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that they are in line with the English curriculum.
  • You should monitor the progression of the pupils, being able to give feedback to the teaching staff.
  • The school is quickly working to make improvements, you should be working to contribute to the learning development of pupils.
  • Assisting the teacher in the management of behaviour, ensuring that the classroom is a safe and productive learning environment.
  • You should be aware of all safeguarding procedures and ensure that they are being followed correctly.

For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check. You must also be able to provide at least two employment-based references. You should also be aware of safeguarding procedures; training will be provided throughout the application process.
