Job summary

The post holder will work as a valued member of the Paediatric Dietetic Team to support the Children's Dietetic service. The Children's dietetic team will provide training and support for the clinical roles and responsibilities listed. These include managing appointments and referrals, organising special diets for inpatients, ordering of feeds and specialist products and supporting technology and processes for the milk kitchen.

Please note there is a manual handling component to this role.

Main duties of the job

Providing clinical administrative support to dietitians including clinic and waiting list management, patient appointment administration, direct patient/family telephone communication, maintaining departmental information logs. To monitor feed stock levels and order as appropriate to maintain minimum stock levels. To review usage regularly to minimise waste. To be responsible for completing menus for inpatients and onward liaison with Catering including any routine meetings To assist with completion of Home Enteral feeding administration for children discharged home on Enteral Feeds (in house training will be provided) To communicate effectively and sensitively to patients and their families/ guardians face to face, via telephone and via email. To communicate with companies involved in patient care ( Hospital to home) to support safe discharges and high quality patient care. To utilise resources available and to seek support to communicate with patients and relatives who have communication difficulties. These may include non-English speakers and those hard of hearing, arranging interpreters for clinic appointments if required. To maintain links between the paediatric dietetic service and other services within the Trust , PALS, Manual Handling Advisor, Mandatory Training officers, as required.
