About the Role

The Recreational Sport Assistant Manager role is to oversee and coordinate the successful running of the recreational sport programmes, which are activities, opportunities and competitive intramural competitions that aim to bring new participants into sport and physical activity. These programmes include Get Active and Social Leagues.¿¿ 

To provide proactive leadership in the promotion, coordination and delivery of a coherent, and innovative sports development programme of cost-effective services, activities, courses, competitions, events and sport-related projects, ensuring optimal utilisation of indoor & outdoor sports facilities.¿ 

Working closely with Club Sport to strengthen the links between competitive and recreational sport, by creating sustainable participation pathways. Raise awareness and the profile of sporting matters within and beyond the institution for sport’s positive contribution in line with QMSU and QMUL strategic objectives.

Queen Mary University of London Students’ Union (the Students’ Union) is a representative and campaigning organisation providing high quality services, activities, and opportunities for Queen Mary University of London students. The Students’ Union’s mission is ‘Together, we improve students’ lives’ and works towards objectives such as improving the community on campus, providing better representation, and supporting and developing students.

QMSU Services Limited is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the charity (QMSU –the Students’ Union). Carrying on the business as a commercial social purpose company, the services are provided principally for students, staff, and guests of the University.

QMSU Sport is comprised of 6 strands of sport and fitness within QMSU, and these are 1) Qmotion Sport & Fitness Centre, 2) Talented Athlete Programme, 3) Club Sport, 4) Social Leagues, 5) Get Active, and 6) Community Foundation. This role will oversee the Recreational Sport Programme whilst working closely with other members of the Sport & Fitness team to improve and expand our offering to the students here at QMUL.

About you

We are seeking an experienced individual with significant knowledge of delivery of recreational sports programmes in the higher education sector to oversee and coordinate the successful running of the recreational sport programmes at QMUL. You will play a key role in achieving increased levels of participation in sport and physical activity of the QMUL community.
