This an exciting time to join the team as we continue to grow and develop to deliver a high quality mental health response to people in crisis. We are forward thinking and innovative team and are presently working towards HTAs accreditation

You will be working in either Home Treatment Team, the Crisis Hub, or the 24 hour mental health helpline (mental Health Connect).

Proposed interview date: 12th July 2024

Main duties of the job

You will ensure effective communication between shifts and with other parts of the service and other agencies including GP's.

o You will communicate and relate with a range of employees of the Trust, visitors, service users, carers, students, members of the public and other agencies with a professional and sensitive approach using a variety of communication and customer service methods - at all times maintaining professional boundaries.

o You will receive phone calls, recording messages accurately, liaising with other administrative, call handlers and health professionals ensuring that suitable action is taken.

o Effectively use the phone system to answer & redirect calls, plus wrap-up a session.

o You will use email applications such as Microsoft Outlook and NHS Mail in order to send, receive and distribute email correspondence appropriately and in accordance with the Trust's Acceptable Use of Information and IT - Policy and Guidance.

o You will maintain confidentiality at all times.

o You will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of effective team working within a multi-disciplinary team. Have the ability to adapt and use initiative as the need arises.

o You will have good communication skills to analyse each call using active and empathetic listening (questioning and summarising), offering sensitive, age appropriate conversation.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
