Main duties of the job

The laboratory handles approximately 65,000 surgical histology and non-gynae cytology cases per annum and provides a wide range of specialist tests.

This post is pivotal for the ongoing development of our immunocytochemistry and molecular service to meet the requirements for faster diagnostics and implementation of tests directly related to treatment options for our patients.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in both routine and specialist Histopathology techniques, be willing to work flexibly and able to motivate and drive forward a team carrying out specialist work on a wide range of sample types. At least 5 years post registration experience, a significant part of which should be in Immunocytochemistry and which includes troubleshooting and quality control, is essential.

You must have successfully completed the IBMS Specialist Diploma and hold either an MSc or FIBMS. Consideration will be given to candidates with Immunocytochemistry quality control experience without an MSc who would be willing to undertake the IBMS Diploma in Expert Practice in Immunocytochemistry (in this case Annex 21 would apply). You must also be able to demonstrate management / leadership experience either practically or through study.
