What are we looking for?

About the role / key responsibilities include:

Perform comprehensive credit analysis across European Utilities and O&G (with the potential to take on additional sector coverage). Develop investment views & conduct relative value analysis between names for our corporate credit traders and external buy-side clients. Monitor market developments & adjust investment positions as needed. Communicate investment strategies to clients (presentations, client visits, roadshows).

Requirements and Languages

The ideal candidate will have over 6 years’ experience as a buy-side or sell-side Credit Analyst, as well as a demonstrated track record of trade idea generation and a clear research framework. The role is focused on analysing European Utilities and O&G, but the candidate should be open to cover colleagues’ sector coverage if/when needed. Create/publish trade recommendation reports and presentations with investment conclusions and sector trends.  Fluent in English. Spanish, Italian or French would be a plus.

About the area

The European Credit Desk Strategy team at BBVA sits next to our credit traders in London, which run a range of investment strategies across IG and Crossover corporates. There is a very close working relationship between both teams, with our credit strategists also being held accountable for the performance of trade ideas/positions in the portfolios.

About you

Responsible for conducting fundamental and relative value analysis on individual credits within European Utilities and O&G at an advanced level. Produce and publish high quality substantive reports with specific investment recommendations to be shared both internally and externally with our investor base. Investment conclusions must be based on a thorough and consistent fundamental & technical analysis while demonstrating ongoing pro activity in idea generation for the trading desk and our clients.
