Job summary

As of 1st September 2022, all new recruits to selected roles within Childrens Health Services shall receive a starting salary similar to the NHS. For example a newly recruited Health Visitor at Sutton would be placed at a mid range spinal point (SP 39) of Grade 9 closely matching the NHS pay scale for the same role. The current LBS figure would be £47,805 to offset the NHS entry figure of £46,836.

New recruits within Childrens Health Services are entitled to the NHS passport scheme. This is the transfer of your continuous service from your previous employer, so you don't lose the benefit you have may have acquired due to long service. Staff within selected roles within Childrens Health Services will receive a Golden Hello, a one off payment of £1,500 when joining, paid in your first months salary and a Retention Bonus of £1,500 after completing 2 years service.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Service Manager, we have a great opportunity for a Health Visiting Team Leader to contribute to the successful delivery of the 0-19 health and wellbeing service for children & families.

The Health Visiting Team Leader will provide clinical leadership to the Health Visiting workforce and deliver frontline professional and operational priorities. You will support the 0-19 Service Manager ensuring the safe, effective and person centred care of children & families across the a role model to Health visitors, the role will lead the development of the Health Visiting service within Sutton Health & Care.

Childrens Health Service

Our Cheam and South Sutton, Carshalton, Wallington and Central Sutton Specialist Public Health ( 0-19) service (health visiting and school nursing) teams improve outcomes for our children, focusing in particular on improving school readiness, mental health and well-being and our SEND provision.

The service delivers the Healthy Child Programme for children aged 0 - 19 year. We work closely with the iHV and offer the exceptional benefit of annual membership for our staff. Our service prides itself in active partnership working with the iHV; staff members are encouraged to submit articles related to innovation and evidence-based practice where opportunities arise.

In addition to the above, we offer staff comprehensive training and encourage everyone to undertake personal development opportunities whether in leadership, specialist training around speech and language, children with extra needs, perinatal mental health, alongside personal preferences expressed by individuals to progress their interests and careers. Job responsibilities

The role of the Team Leader will include:

Operationally line manage and lead a Health Visitor team in line with the organisationalvision in collaboration with the 0-19 Service Manager. Support the team by working clinically for up to 50% of the role with children &families. Identifying and addressing the health needs of pre-school children & their families and the community. This includes where appropriate, representing and supporting the 0-19 Service Manager to ensure continued service provision as per the Health Visiting Service Specification. Be professionally accountable in line with current legislation and the Nursing and MidwiferyCouncil (NMC 2018) Work in partnership with existing voluntary and statutory networks Undertake area wide portfolios of work related to children & families as defined by the 0-19Service manager. Qualifications

Essential

Be a Registered Nurse with the Nurse and Midwifery Council, have a Specialist Public Health Community Nurse qualification. Minimum of 3 years post registration experience working as a Health Visitor.

Experience

Essential

Experience of managing change on a range of service related projects. Hood understanding of the importance of partnership working at national, local and corporate level. Experience in providing clinical leadership which inspires and motivates others, empowering them to ensure all practitioners have the authority and support they need to improve patient care, and to resolve clinical issues. Act as a role model for Health visitors by representing the values and beliefs of the Health Visiting profession as well as those of the organisation promoting staff to work within professional codes, legal and ethical framework.
