Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Receptionist/Dispenser to join #TeamFlegg.

We are looking for a calm, patient individual who can interact well with patients providing a high quality service in accordance to practice policies and procedures.

Previous experience receptionist and/or dispenser in general practice is essential.

Main duties of the job

To provide a reception service for all patients reporting to reception, including appointment booking and assisting with all other enquiries.

All aspects of dispensing following policies and procedures, led by our Dispensary Manager and Practice Pharmacist.

We are a rural GP practice located between Acle and Great Yarmouth, with a list size of approximately 2,000 patients. We use SystmOne.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Receptionist

Receive patientsat reception and make appointment in accordance with the computer appointmentssystem

Operatetelephone system to deal with patient telephone enquiries, ensuringconfidentiality is maintained at all times.

Inform patientsof test results, afterassuring permission to do so.

Explain practicearrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seekingtemporary cover, and ensure procedures are completed.

Ensure thatpatients without appointments, but who need urgent consultation, are seen ina logical and non-disruptive manner.

Respondefficiently and courteously to all queries and requests for assistance orinformation from patients or escorts: this will include requests for homevisits, dealing with specimen bottles etc.

Deal withroutine requests for home visits for Doctors and liaise with attached staff forcommunity visits.

Dispenser

Receivepatient prescriptions including repeat prescriptions.

Check forexemptions ensuring appropriate signature is obtained.

Make upprescriptions ensuring that correct drug and quantity is dispensed.

Obtainpayment as appropriate.

Topractice stock rotation and stock control adhering to Dispensary protocol.

Ensurethat all dispensary equipment is kept in proper order and that all drugs andmedicines are stored safely.

Maintainthe Controlled Drug Register and the handling of prescription monies and forms.

Unpack andcheck orders from the wholesale and drug companies, keeping accurate records ofany bonus stock received or any discounts.

Generateprescriptions for non-dispensing patients.

Generateprivate prescriptions, dispense and keep a record of all privately dispensedmedication.

To use the clinical system to record all repeat requests and any additionalinformation required.

Keeppatients notes up to date with recording of repeat medication and monitorrepeat requests, reporting any suspected misuse to the Lead GP.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

A good standard of education Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English or equivalent proven skill. Excellent IT skills

Desirable

NVQ level 2 or above in dispensing services.
