About the role
As a Console Controller, you'll be responsible for the safe coordination and monitoring of all shipping movements within the Port. Your duties will include managing health and safety in line with legislation and company policy, operating the console for lock operations, maintaining shipping records, and ensuring effective communication and handovers. You'll also handle paperwork, provide fresh water to ships, and assist with mail and stores delivery.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
Experience in monitoring and coordinating shipping movements.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
Accurate record-keeping and incident reporting skills.
Strong IT and communication skills.
Desirable:
A qualification or previous experience in VHF radio operation.
Basic knowledge of oil spill response techniques (OPRC1 qualification).
Understanding of freshwater procedures and sterilisation.
In-depth knowledge of lock-gates, sluices, and flood control requirements.
Familiarity with IPOS, Internet, and email systems.
