190895 Speech and Language Therapist

NHS Dumfries & Galloway are keen to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to their friendly and supportive adult SLT team. 

You will have the opportunity to work in both the acute hospital (inpatient and outpatient) and community settings which may include Cottage Hospitals, Care Home and other domiciliary settings. You will gain experience of working with communication and/or swallowing disorders, in a variety of clinical specialities:

Stroke (acute and rehabilitation) Medical Neurology Care of the elderly ENT  Respiratory


You will be based within the Therapies Department at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI), which is the main base for the Dumfries & Galloway SLT Adult Service. Regular VFSS and Joint ENT-SLT Voice clinics are also held at DGRI.

The SLT Therapy Adult service is committed to offering all staff the opportunity to develop their skills and new graduates are asked to take part in the NHS Flying Start new graduate programme as well as completing their SLT NQP preceptorship in their first year. This post is also be suitable for anyone looking to develop their higher Band 5 skills. Support is provided through regular clinical supervision, line management and regular team meetings covering quality and operational developments, as well as departmental clinical research review group.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a medical condition which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
