SPT Labtech has an exciting opportunity for a MEMS Process Technician. You will help scale up the production process for the fabrication of Cryo-EM consumables leading the revolution in the imaging of 3D structures of biomacromolecules.

The position will mostly be based on our site in Melbourn, while occasionally working in our laboratory facility at Cambridge University (and collaborating with our colleagues in Germany). The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, technical expertise and a strong appetite to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Run and improve wafer fab processes such as thin-film metal deposition, Wet Etch, Plating, Photolithography…
  • Use and run wafer metrology tools to analyse problems, failures, and other technical issues.
  • Set technical direction with respect to toolset and process technology.
  • Use good problem solving and communication skills to help solve a wide array of technical product problems.
  • Participate with manufacturing, process development, and facilities in developing requirements and recommendations for system modifications.

About you:

  • Organisational skills to track and coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with senior internal/external personnel.
  • Good written and oral communication skills for spec writing, pass down, and instructions to other operators.
  • Must be able to be trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

 

Your skills:

  • Relevant experience in some of the following: metal thin-film deposition techniques, semiconductor processes, photolithography, wet etching, microfabrication, MEMS.
  • Experience in precision electrodeposition techniques would be an advantage.
  • We would also consider a Chemistry or Physics graduate looking for a position within industry, if you've had any exposure to the following: metal thin-film deposition techniques, semiconductor processes, photolithography, wet etching, microfabrication, MEMS OR you may have come from a Technician background possibly with experience in a clean room environment, Mechanical Technician or Electronics Technician
