Your mission

We are seeking a Bioinformatician to join the Data Sciences team and work closely with the Translational Biology team focusing on biomarker discovery for fibrotic liver diseases.  

The successful candidate will be involved in the analysis of a complex novel dataset, integrating clinical with molecular datasets to identify potential biomarkers of fibrotic liver diseases in addition to working across the portfolio to develop better therapies, as part of a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team of scientists. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and proactive, and demonstrate strong team spirit, enthusiasm, confidence, and dedication. Key responsibilities: 

  • Partner with Engitix scientists and external collaborators to draft and implement analysis plans, and iteratively deliver actionable biological insights and visualizations
  • Refine key questions, clearly articulate concepts, needs, and potential solutions, and effectively communicate results to diverse teams
  • Establish, test, and improve analysis pipelines
  • Develop innovative analytical approaches and analysis plans integrating, analyzing, and interpreting high-dimensional multimodal datasets
  • Ensure data and analytics integrity through best practices in FAIR data, reproducibility, and documentation
Your profile

As well as strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, you will have:  

  • A postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics or equivalent 
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in R and/or Python 
  • Previous experience of performing bulk transcriptomics analysis and at least one of:-
    • scRNAseq and or spatial transcriptomics
    • Molecular imaging, including spatial proteomics
    • Quantitative proteomics, including familiarity with mass spectrometry technologies (e.g., LFQ and TMT)
    • Multi-omics and data integration
  • Foundational skills in statistics and/or machine learning, including experience with methods such as survival analysis, regression analysis, dimensionality reduction, classification, and clustering
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team in Oncology or Fibrosis 
  • Experience working with cloud services (e.g., AWS) and workflow languages (e.g., NextFlow)
