Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to lead the UK GPQS planning team, ensuring planning resources are allocated. Take the lead in ensuring the company resource planning and forecast systems are up to date and data is accurate.

The role will also involve taking responsibility for a portfolio of projects, ensuring that projects follow internal planning standard procedures. Manage the integrated schedule and cost control performance measurement process. This will include the company resource planning systems (Power Bi and Unifier).

Lead the team in maintaining standards of planning, acting as key contact with Hub Planning Manager and Project Controls Manager Coach and develop other members of the planning team.

Responsibilities:

Lead the planning team (excluding line management). Ensure the team are adhering to internal planning standards. Ensure the project teams are given planning support throughout the project, providing monitoring and controls, proactively keeping the project manager informed to accomplish all project goals.

Proactively promotes an inclusive environment in the team and in all interactions with stakeholders and the business.

Analyses project requirements with the project team, checking that all essential work activities have been identified in sufficient detail to provide realistic project schedules. Monitor project progress and regularly analyse the programme to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed according to the plan.

Work closely with engineering, supply chain, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, client, and contractors to identify potential changes in scope and quantify the impact of each change in a timely fashion.

Integrate material resource requirements with project schedule and defines procurement activities and order lead times. Regularly communicates with Supply Chain Management (SCM) team and updates schedules to ensure procurement activities take place in a timely way and lead times are optimized to meet schedule targets.

Participate in project reviews. Composes reports and updates all required project data in Project Control systems for Management Information and Project Analysis. Communicates project progress and control issues to project management team and offers solutions. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Issue progress reports, program updates and productivity data on a regular basis and as requested by customers and stakeholders.

Provide support in the preparation of proposals and bids to meet customer needs.

Constantly seeks ways to learn, acquire new skills and knowledge.

Keep up to date with industry and product developments.

Identifies own training needs, undertakes self-directed and formal training programs as directed by Management.

Willing to work towards achieving PMI Certified Planner Status.

Your Background:

Knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 – essential

Can demonstrate knowledge of UK contract requirements and application to the planner role.

Is fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate in a way appropriate to the audience

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability and confidence for senior audiences

Has strong analysis and problem-solving skills to quickly analyses complex situations.

Proven ability to effectively structure work to handle multiple demands and competing activities; to take control of issues and manage them through resolutions

Has a passion for customer satisfaction, problem solving and team work.
