As a Purchase Ledger Assistant at the WCS Group, you will play a vital role in supporting our quest to build the best water treatment, water hygiene, air quality, and testing company in the UK. WCS Group leads the Water Treatment and Water Hygiene division of Marlowe Compliance Services and is one of the largest water safety specialists in the UK. At WCS Group, we believe that our success hinges on the expertise and dedication of our team members.

 

Working in a team of eight, you will support the Shared Services Purchase Ledger Team in Gloucester who are responsible for the invoice to payment process across multiple entities, and who collaborate closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the most efficient and effective outcomes.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • The main purpose of the role is to support the Purchase Ledger Clerks with the accurate processing of purchase invoices across one or more entities
  • Updating the query log with issues linked to the non-approval of invoices for payment
  • Monitoring the Purchase Ledger mailboxes and responding to e-mails in a professional and timely manner
  • Answering and making phone calls
  • Assisting the Team with the reconciliation of statements
  • Resolving debit balances and Direct Debit allocations if required
  • Any other administrative duties as required by the Purchase Ledger Team
  • Opening and distributing the Finance post

Key Skills / Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role desirable but would also suit someone looking to move into a Finance environment as their first role
  • Experience using SAGE (desirable but not essential as training will be given)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to flex between work as required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent user of Excel (desirable but not essential as training will be given)
  • A team player – happy to get “stuck in”
