Job summary

We are pleased to be able to advertise for this exciting opportunity within the Endoscopy Department Outpatient Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

There is no expectation that candidate will have any endoscopy experience, just a willingness to learn some new skills in a busy environment. Comprehensive training will be provided within the Department.

Main duties of the job

Working under the supervision of the qualified staff, the HCA/Endoscopy Support Worker will participate and support the members of the multi-disciplinary team in delivering high quality patient care.

Participate in the decontamination of endoscopes and other specialised equipment including the maintenance and traceability of instruments.

The role may involve assisting the Endoscopist with simple accessorising during procedures under qualified staff supervision subject to training.

Job responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if this is going to be problematic:),lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift),all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ/QCF Diploma Level 2 or equivalent qualification in health care. GCSE English grade G/1 (or above) or Functional Skills English level 1. GCSE maths grade G/1 (or above) or Functional Skills maths level 1. Completion of the Care Certificate (or willingness to undertake)

Desirable

Decontamination training. NVQ Level 2 in direct care Technicians' Training course in GI Endoscopy

Experience

Essential

Understanding of the CSW role in Endoscopy Minimum of 1 year full-time equivalent experience as a Healthcare Support Worker or Trainee in a care setting

Desirable

Knowledge of the design & function of endoscopes and decontamination issues.

Skills

Essential

Ability to work calmly under pressure Positive attitude to learning Able to work under supervision Flexibility and adaptability
