This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an existing Matron to be responsible for the day to day operational and clinical management of the Children's Community nursing teams in Oxfordshire which includes a Community nursing team, Rosy respite, Special School Nurse team and a ground-breaking hospital at home team.

This is an exciting time of transformation and reconfiguration of children's community services, which has created opportunities, not only for services to recognise and consolidate what they are doing well, but also to drive creativity in service delivery.

Main duties of the job

To work collaboratively to ensure the most appropriate clinical management and positive experience for all service users To facilitate and lead in a positive, flexible and strategic way Support teams to develop and create conditions that facilitate innovation and transformation. Provide coaching and support to develop teams and promote workforce Encourage a climate of high expectations where all team members look for ways to deliver outstanding care for children young people and their families. Provide professional support and leadership to nursing staff and clinical teams within the specialty areas to ensure that appropriate governance arrangements are in place

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible for delivering specialised high quality, holistic, nursing care to children acting as a role model to staff in the teamworking clinically within the service as a manager on call To work in collaboration with the directorate Head of Nursing, Clinical Director and Senior Clinical Lead on matters relating to paediatric nursing professional practice and clinical development. Monitor incident reports, ensuring that incidents are investigated appropriately, and action plans are implemented effectively within the designated time frames In conjunction with the Senior Clinical Lead have a sound knowledge of the pay and non-pay budget ensuring control measures are implemented and resource utilisation is optimal. To promote effective whole system models of care by working effectively in partnership with multiple statutory and non-statutory agencies. Support teams to develop and create conditions that facilitate innovation and transformation

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Registered Children's Nurse/RSCN or equivalent Professional/Managerial knowledge acquired through post graduate level study.

Desirable criteria

Leadership or management qualification Masters degree

Essential criteria

Ability to manage competing priorities and to work under pressure. Demonstrate an ability to organise and motivate self and others. Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written, including the ability to negotiate and persuade in complex and difficult situations.

Desirable criteria

Ability to think logically, use initiative and problem solve.

Experience

Essential criteria

Significant clinical nursing experience with a period working in a senior nurse role of band 7 or above. Skills and experience in undertaking interviews, investigations and the recruitment process.

Desirable criteria

• Experience or understanding of budget management.
