Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Occupational Therapist - Trusted Assessor Delivery o develop and implement a Trusted Assessor Framework that will be used across Health and Social Care in South West London (Sutton, Croydon, Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond).

We know that the trusted assessor role is invaluable, and recognise the need to develop, support and retain trusted assessors in our workforce.

The framework will develop the knowledge, competencies and skills of trusted assessors and support them in carrying out their role such as prescription of equipment and adaptationsto maximise independence for vulnerable adults and promote efficiencies.

In the role, you will also develop and implement standard operating procedures for equipment prescribed by Trusted Assessors. You will forge links with training providers to ensure that the trusted assessor training provided meets the needs of South West London partners.

Main duties of the job

You will be a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with at least 3 years post qualifying experience and will have extensive experience prescribing equipment and adaptations.

You will have experience of providing supervision to staff and students.

You will work autonomously and have experience of managing projects. You will have excellentcommunication skills and have the ability to work collaborativelyacross partner organisations.

You will be hosted by theLondon Borough of Sutton but will be required to work across and with all partners as required with the aim to scale up the support to trusted assessors across South West London.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

1. Proven ability to work on own initiative, manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines, as well as accommodating unplanned changes to circumstances and priorities

2. Attention to detail and an ability to present documents to a varied audience

3. Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information in an influencing way

4. Ability to plan, organise project work and prioritise tasks in accordance with service requirements

5. Proficient skills in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint etc

KNOWLEDGE

1You will have sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act, NHS Act, principles of safeguardingand GDPR

2. An understanding of how research, performance assessment frameworks, development and review methods could be applied in an adult social care setting.

Job responsibilities

To develop and implement an Occupational Therapy Equipment/Minor Adaptations Trusted Assessor Framework, which will enable Trusted Assessors to develop their skills and experience. To work collaboratively with Partners across South West London (SWL) to implement the framework and provide support to Trusted Assessors, assisting to retain staff and develop the Trusted Assessor workforce.

To line manage and supervise a senior Occupational Therapist, who will also be working on delivery. The post is funded through Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) priorities fund until the end of March 2025.

The post holder will work closely with the Delivery Group which is made up of Principal Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Leads and other leads across SWL.

The post holder will lead the project to ensure its success and sustainability in achieving the objectives set by the delivery group, including regular reporting on project outcomes.

The post holder will have excellent knowledge of the Trusted Assessor model and/or delivery in Health & Social Care.

The post holder will work well as part of a team, be an excellent problem solver in complex situations and approach leadership to promote authentic engagement.

The post holder will be supported and supervised by the Principal Occupational Therapist in Sutton (hosting Local Authority).

Qualifications

Essential

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council HCPC as an Occupational Therapist Management and leadership experience A demonstrable record of continuing professional development and relevant post graduate qualification or training in specialist knowledge and skills Substantial experience of equipment provision, relevant legislation and guidance Knowledge and skills in the development of others through supervision and other forms of learning and support Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders, and representing and promoting Occupational Therapy services The postholder will need to be able to travel independently in connection with work and to undertake observation visits.

Desirable

Experience of working in a range of Health and/or Social Care settings with experience in a Lead role Experience of leading forums and facilitating groups to improve practice and ensuring professional standards of practice are maintained. Experience of supporting professional development including contribution to CPD for staff and students across a range of professions. Excellence in delivering training to a mixed ability/experienced audience Experience of working with health/social care database Experience of leading or taking part in audit/quality improvement/research programmes, to improve evidence-based practice Ability to involve carers and residents in service development and delivery Experience of planning complex activities with multiple stakeholders
