To excel in this role, you should possess:

HCPC registration and an AHP degree. Extensive postgraduate clinical experience with leadership responsibilities. Demonstrable evidence of postgraduate learning related to leadership, management, or healthcare. Advanced knowledge of AHP services and the national workforce agenda. Proven track record of successful leadership and change management in healthcare settings. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership: Lead AHP workforce development and improvement initiatives, sharing advanced knowledge and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery. Provide regular reports and feedback to relevant committees using data-driven insights.

Deputy Duties: Act as primary deputy to the Chief AHP, representing them in meetings and executing delegated responsibilities across portfolios.

Workforce Development: Inspire the next generation of AHPs through outreach programs, promote equality and inclusion, and excel in recruitment, retention, and onboarding efforts.

Data-Driven Workforce Design: Develop workforce models based on data analysis, support advanced practice roles, and embed a culture of continuous quality improvement.

Financial Resources/Management: Contribute to effective resource use and oversee AHP productivity to optimise clinical capacity.

Information Resources/Information Systems: Maintain accurate records, lead clinical audits and research, and analyse complex data for reporting and improvement.

Job Summary

The Deputy Chief AHP operates as a key strategic leader within the organisation, supporting the Chief AHP in driving forward the vision and objectives for AHP services. Main Duties & Responsibilities Of The Post

Leadership

Provide expert leadership in AHP workforce development and improvement initiatives. Share advanced knowledge of AHP workforce dynamics with internal staff and external stakeholders. Develop, implement, and evaluate AHP workforce strategies to enhance service delivery. Provide regular reports and feedback to relevant committees, utilising data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities. To identify data driven opportunities for improvement and address as appropriate including participation in audit, evaluation and improvement initiatives. Deputy Duties Act as the primary deputy to the Chief AHP, representing them in meetings, committees, and forums as required. Undertake delegated responsibilities across various portfolios, ensuring effective execution of duties.

Workforce Development

To actively inspire the next generation of AHPs Establish in-reach programs with local schools promoting AHP future careers. Establish inclusive two-tiered AHP wide work experience model, one virtual offer and one physical. To shape our culture around equality, diversity and inclusion with a zero-tolerance policy for any form of bullying, harassment or discrimination. In-reach programs with local schools promoting AHP future careers targeting our diverse community. Establishment of equality, diversity and inclusion champion roles with packages of training supporting development and embedded within local governance structures and regional networks. Modernise our recruitment processes prioritising equality, diversity and inclusion. To deliver excellence in Recruitment, Retention & Onboarding. Establish an AHP wide preceptorship program to support new AHP graduates early in their career adhering to the AHP Preceptorship framework. Establish starter and leaver interview processes as part of listen, learn and improve agenda. Establish mechanisms to support the continual development of staff wellbeing initiatives. Establish an AHP Handbook inclusive of structure, governance, specialist clinical contacts etc. Establish monthly face to face new starter meeting with Chief AHP and Senior AHP leaders mapped into new starter induction. Establish cross organisation graduate AHP recruitment. Modernise existing recruitment process to enhance efficiency and promote equality. To develop high quality data driven workforce design models to inform transformation and change and give assurance of effectiveness and safety. Establish AHP workforce capacity baselines through job planning for AHPs across NBT. Establish demand and acuity performance data to inform workforce planning and assessment of risk. Utilise capacity and demand data to inform the development of an effective staffing modelling tool for AHPs. Input into the develop an AHP annual workforce review to executive board characterising the performance, capabilities and demands upon the AHP workforce and an assessment of workforce adherence to an AHP effective staffing modelling tool. To unlock the untapped potential of AHPs through transformational approaches to workforce modelling. Support development of AHPs in Advanced Practice and Consultant grade roles inclusive of development of the 4 pillars of advanced practice. Establish rolling AHP talent development roles. Establish dedicated AHP Practice Educator roles. Establish dedicated AHP Research roles. Embed organisation wide commitment to skills and competence-based recruitment. Unlock traditionally protected professional roles that AHPs have the skills and experience to be successful in. Utilise capacity and demand data to inform workforce planning and innovations in the utilisation of consultant and advanced practice grade roles. To lead the embedding of an AHP culture of continuous quality improvement; where improvement is everyones business, with all AHPs feeling skilled, confident and empowered to make changes and improvements at work. Design job plans to include quality improvement and service development time. Establish research and service development roles to support quality improvement.

Contribute to the effective and efficient use of all available health care resources.

To provide oversight of AHP productivity utilising AHP activity and demand data to inform the optimum utilisation of AHP clinical capacity.

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential

Registered AHP with active registration with the HCPC Post Graduate Diploma or experience managing and leading AHPs and working as part of a senior management team Ability to manage highly complex clinical and operational situations that involve staff from all levels within an organisation and across a range of professional and organisational boundaries Experience leading and managing change Experience of report writing that informs and engages target audiences
