What we are looking for

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in taking ownership of our service platforms, currently hosted with Heroku and AWS.  You will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, performance, security, and scalability of our Rails and React applications, leading the charge in optimising our continuous integration and delivery pipeline, managing our infrastructure, and spearheading our disaster recovery strategies.

  • A first class communicator, sharing technical updates and decisions understandable by different stakeholders in the business.

  • Infused with a passion for engineering and solving interesting problems with simple solutions at scale.

  • Experience within a small team/ startup environment is desirable for this role. 

You will

  • Oversee and manage our cloud infrastructure on Heroku and AWS, ensuring efficient deployment and operation of our internet services.

  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting tools to detect and address reliability risks. Ensure high availability and performance of all services.

  • Develop, maintain, and test backup and recovery plans. Ensure data integrity through effective backup strategies and the ability to quickly restore operations in case of failure.

  • Oversee the administration of our databases, ensuring their performance, availability, scalability and security. 

  • Establish and maintain security protocols for our cloud infrastructure, protecting against unauthorised access and potential security threats.

  • Enhance and maintain our CI/CD pipeline for automation and efficiency in code deployments.

  • Work closely with the development teams and technical leadership.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of our infrastructure, systems, and procedures to ensure clarity and continuity.
